Highlights of 2023

We began the UKAS certification process for our Integrated Management Systems 14001, 9001 and 45001

We were awarded the Gold standard for Carbon Literate organisations, having successfully delivered Carbon Literacy training to just under 500 professionals across the country

Our recently formed wellbeing working group finished the dedicated office wellbeing space and achieved Mindful Employer status two years in a row

The WRM team expanded by 3 staff members, welcoming additional support to a range of departments

Mark Richmond, Technical Director at WRM, was voted by the Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association as lead of their ‘Food Waste’ working group


  • We decreased our total Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 10.5% from our baseline year.


  • We avoided 2,706 kgCO2e through ultra-low carbon & active travel.


  • We helped our clients to avoid 1,732,28 tCO2e  through landfill circumvention.


  • We identified 64,633 tCO2e of reduction opportunities through our carbon assessments.

  • We recovered 55% of our total waste and transformed it into new products.


  • 100% of our electrical equipment was purchased as second hand / refurbished models.


  • We achieved a 100% certification rate for all of our clients in End of Waste, PAS100, PAS110, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO45001 and CMS.


  • We helped our clients apply for 1,818,500T of additional permitted waste processing capacity.

  • We invested 100% of our payments for gas and electricity into a renewable energy provider.


  • We decreased our total gas consumption by 44.5% from our baseline year.


  • We helped to support a total of 202 Megawatts of low carbon energy through our permitting services.


  • In doing so, we helped our clients to avoid a potential of 160,355 tCO2e that would be have otherwise been emitted through traditional carbon intensive energy generation methods.

  • We retained 100% of our workforce, and developed 7 new roles, enabling the progression of new and existing staff.


  • We trained 4 mental health first aiders and held a total of 10 wellbeing sessions with the wider team.


  • We trained just under 500 professionals in Carbon Literacy, and co-developed a workshop with Greener NHS and The Carbon Literacy Project to upskill a large proportion of the NHS workforce.


  • We supported and helped to create sustainability funding applications totalling £3M.
