The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Planning (HACCP) section of the PAS100:2018 standard was re-written to consider hazards from the intended use of compost, both in terms of quality as well as safety.

This section is now known as the Statements on Quality Control Standards (SQCS), and all compost producers must meet the requirements of this in order to be successfully certified.

The Safety and Quality Control System shall consist of:

  • a HACCP study;
  • the team members and their training and experience;
  • each product’s description and its intended use, as well as
  • visually presenting the process flow in a clear diagram.

HACCP studies need to be carried out in accordance with the 7 principles laid down in the Codex Alimentarius Commission’s ‘Principles of the HACCP system’ AND kept up to date, ensuring it stays in line with customers’ needs, processing technologies, input materials and any new hazards that emerge.

WRM recognises that this process is often complex and time consuming, which is why we offer a complete management system package to help guide you through a successful PAS100 certification. This includes a management system review, document update, onsite training and attendance at the external PAS100 inspection.
