The Brief
WRM were commissioned by Grindley Biogas Ltd to secure the environmental permit for the operation of a biomethane to grid Anaerobic Digestion Plant at Grindley House Farm, Stafford. The site processes 46,000 tpa with a feedstock blend of agricultural slurry and whole crop maize. WRM delivered all aspects of the application and were also responsible for the project management and delivery of the entire process.
WRM diligently managed the entire application process for our AD operation. They maintained constant communication with us, as the developers, and the local EA Officer ensuring there was no delay in issuing of the permit.

The Solution
We advised the client on the most appropriate environmental permit to support the intended site operations. After reviewing and analysing both current and future capacity provision, as well as targeted feedstocks, we identified several permitting options and recommended SR2012 No09.
Our expert consultants also provided strategic and tactical advice on appropriate options to enable the legal operation during the initial seeding and commissioning of the digester.
The Outcome
After agreeing to a tight deadline, we successfully submitted the permit application on time and to the high quality expected by both the client and the Environmental Agency.
The permit was successfully granted on the 31/08/2016.
We are proud of our team’s focus on quality and this is demonstrated by our 100% permit approval success rate.
