Domestic transport contributes the largest share of UK greenhouse gas emissions of any sector across the UK economy, at approximately 25%. With such a significant component of the UK emissions inventory, the Transport Decarbonisation Plan sets out ambitions to phase out all non-zero emission vehicles by 2040. Further policy aims to achieve net zero emissions from public transport by 2050 including rail and aviation.
